With a parent, conduct an experiment to see what happens when adding a Mento to a soda.

Then try to figure out what may be causing this reaction.

If you don’t have mentos at home – try other items such as baking soda, chips, candy, sugar, etc!

How does a habitat or environment affect bugs? What do bugs need to thrive?

Make a “Bug Hotel”

Use materials in (and outside) of your house such as boxes, tape, scissors (adult help), markers, grass, rocks, and sticks to make a comfortable bug hotel!

Leave your “Bug Hotel” outside for the day – or throughout the night and see what kind of bugs come to stay! 

Take a picture or record a video of your hotel and the bugs! What kind of bugs do you see? Did certain bugs prefer sticks? Grass?

Nature Walk With An Adult

Take a walk with an adult and use your senses (smell, hear, see, touch). 

What do you notice? Were their animals? Bugs? What kind?

Did you see rocks? Sticks? Plants? What kind?

Bring home a leaf, flower, or rock and research! 

What kind of rock is it? What kind of leaf or flower?

Why do they thrive in this environment?
